IC 칩 프로그래머에 관한 자주 묻는 질문

1. What is a device programmer?

A programmer is a tool that writes data into programmable integrated circuits. It is mainly used to program (or "flash") microcontrollers (including embedded MCUs) and memory chips (including BIOS). A programmer connects to a computer and works with programming software; it can also run stand-alone to program bare ICs offline or program in-circuit on the board.

2. Why does a new programmer show "internal data error or no data, please connect to a computer to download data", beep twice and show a red light?

This is the power-on self-test of the programmer's internal memory. When an anomaly is detected it alarms and disables programming; connect the programmer to a computer and download the data again. The self-test runs on every power-up.

3. What should I do if a WizPro200XX series programmer cannot connect to the PC software?

First confirm the USB driver is installed correctly — see "Downloads" → "USB Drivers" on our website www.maxwiz.com.cn. Then confirm the PC software matches the programmer model.

4. Which operating systems do the USB driver and PC software support?

Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10, both 32-bit and 64-bit. The PC software needs no installation — just copy it to the computer.

5. Data downloads normally and the display looks fine, but programming fails. Why?

Check that the selected chip model matches the chip being programmed; check that the programming interface selected in the PC software matches the interface reserved on the board (SWD, JTAG, SPI, UART, I2C and so on — different chip families use different protocols); check the interface voltage (5 V, 3.3 V, 1.8 V); and check the wiring between the programmer and the target board, paying attention to pin 1 of the programming connector.

6. The programmer reports success but the chip does not work on the board.

Check the data file. If a chip is not read-protected, the programmed content can be read back and compared with the original data. Also check the chip configuration (config) options — on chips such as Microchip, STM8, STM32, Nuvoton and MindMotion the configuration can be read back and compared with a known-good chip.

7. Do I need an external power adapter when downloading?

When downloading data to the programmer, connect only the USB cable. During programming, connect the external power adapter to keep the programmer's VDD supply stable.
